ABOUT US

In 1995, we -- a group of working professionals -- observed the poverty, illiteracy and lack of basic amenities in the Arilova area of Visakhapatnam. We were moved by what saw and felt challenged to make a difference. In the months that followed we drafted a plan of action and 'Ashreya' was born.

The Society has been registered as an NGO under the Societies Registration Act. It has also obtained the approval of the Foreign Contribution Regulation Act (FCRA). All donations are eligible for 50% exemption under section 80G of the Indian Income Tax Act F.No. TECH III (60)/80G/CIT-1/VSKP/11-12/12-13.

We started small and over time have expanded the scope of our work, focusing on specific needs:

• Healthcare & hygiene
• Nutrition
• Community development
• Advocacy
• Shelter

Our sphere of influence has grown too – We now work with individuals and communities in Andhra Pradesh, North Bengal and Bihar.
